America’s Wine Country Invites You for a Relaxed, Luxurious Stay
After touring cosmopolitan San Francisco, enjoy a private drive north to the Napa and Sonoma Valleys. For wine and nature lovers alike, this scenic region is not to be missed. We’ll visit a specially-curated grouping of top-rated wineries, take private tours and tastings, and learn how distinctive wines are made, and grapes grown.
On our first day in this region, we’ll visit Sonoma Valley, for a day of wine tastings and touring, and then stay overnight at a four-star hotel in the area. The next day, we tour notable sites in Napa Valley, with visits to wineries and tastings of the world’s finest wines. Use free time in both valleys to sample gourmet cuisine, relax with a spa treatment, or shop in quaint boutiques.
Ride the famous San Francisco Cable Cars with our complimentary ticket upon arrival. The historic cable car system runs from near Fisherman’s Wharf to Union Square, and then winds through several of the city’s most famous neighborhoods. San Francisco has the last manually-operated cable car system in the world, so climb aboard for a unique travel opportunity!
Lombard Street in the Russian Hill neighborhood is best known for this steep section of road with eight hairpin turns in a single block. While San Francisco is known for its hilly neighborhoods, this extreme example reflects some of the ingenious ways the city has tackled its elevation challenges. Lombard Street is also easily visible from Coit Tower and from the cable car route.
Coit Tower, the tall, concrete structure atop Telegraph Hill, has overlooked San Francisco since 1933. Take the elevator for impressive 360-degree views that stretch from downtown to the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge and North Bay, and also view significant murals inside the building. Day or night, the scenic beauty of San Francisco shines through at this historic landmark.
Napa Valley is known around the globe for producing some of the best wines in the world. More than 450 wineries rely on varietal grapes from this fertile soil to create full-bodied Cabernets, buttery Chardonnays, and dozens of other masterpieces. Learn just how much Napa Valley and its neighbors deserve their reputation as one of America’s premier wine producers with our deluxe tour.
We’ll also visit Sonoma, “Valley of the Moon,” and the birthplace of California wine. One of 12 wine-growing regions in Sonoma County, the 17-mile-long valley between the Mayacamas and Sonoma mountains is home to some of the oldest wineries in the state. Pair the local wines with cuisine from the valley’s 40-plus restaurants, and you’ll enjoy a culinary experience second to none.
From grapes on the vine to pressing rooms, fermenting tanks, and finally sealed bottles of fine wine, we’ll learn about the entire process for creating world-class vintages. Napa and Sonoma mix major wine producers with boutique specialty houses to offer a unique cross-section of delicious options. We’ll visit several wineries in both valleys to sample these unique wines while getting an up-close look at the story of wine.
