Tour Santa Barbara to Carmel, and In Between
You’ll have the next three days to explore noteworthy coastal offerings from Los Angeles to Carmel-by-the-Sea. First is Santa Barbara, an upscale beach community several hours north of L.A., and home to its namesake Santa Barbara Mission. Then visit and stop overnight in Solvang, the quaint village that proclaims its Danish heritage in its windmills, half-timbered houses, and delicious butter cookies. See Hearst Castle, the Julia Morgan-designed National Historic Landmark along the rural coastline.
Then travel further north to isolated and breathtaking Big Sur, where the California surf meets the rugged coastline. You’ll stay overnight in Carmel, an artists’ colony turned exclusive seaside resort.
