On Day Two, start your excursion with magnificent views of the steep-sided Grand Canyon by air, and then explore the scenic West Rim by foot. The Colorado River, which carved the Grand Canyon and its tributary canyons over millions of years, flows throughout the park and is visible far below the overlooks.
On Day Three, visit Zion National Park in southwest Utah. Known for towering cliffs of brilliantly-colored sandstone, Zion Canyon stretches 15 miles and plunges up to a half mile down to the Virgin River. One of photographer Ansel Adams’s favorite venues, the park’s varied mix of natural features includes arches, mountains, canyons, buttes and mesas.
The bright lights of the Las Vegas Strip surround you every night of your stay at a hotel in the middle of the entertainment district. From the fountains of Circus Circus to the Eiffel Tower at Paris casino, there’s never a dull moment on South Las Vegas Boulevard. Fourteen of the world’s 20 largest hotels, by room count, are found on The Strip, as well as many of the largest hotel, casino, and resort properties on the globe.
Las Vegas is known for partying, gambling, sporting events, live shows, and famous entertainers. But there are also spots for quiet relaxation, such as this peaceful overlook in front of the dancing fountains next to the Louis Vuitton store. That’s right – if shopping is your favorite form of relaxation therapy, you’ll find plenty of designer shops and boutiques to fill your days and nights.
Toroweap Overlook on the Northern Rim of the Grand Canyon offers a dramatic view from 3,000 feet above the Colorado River. Volcanic cinder cones and lava flows in this area provide a rustic, peaceful experience unlike any other. We’ll share many iconic views of the canyon and nearby natural features during our air-and-ground visit.
The national parks of the American West draw hikers and casual tourists alike to experience their unique features in person. Walking tours of the South Rim Trail at the Grand Canyon include popular overlooks such as Mather Point. Zion National Park is also accessible from numerous trails, including The Subway (a slot canyon hike) and Lava Point, with its panoramic view of the entire Kolob Trace area.
The reddish and tan sandstone cliffs of Zion Canyon create a perfect backdrop for photographers in Zion National Park. The Zion and Kolob canyons date back 150 million years, providing habitat for a wide variety of plant and animal life along the Virgin River. The stunning rock formations include the Kolob Arch, the second largest natural arch in the world.
We’ll get our first panoramic views of the Grand Canyon from an airplane high above the national park. These views create unforgettable memories of the rugged Arizona mountains and the park’s breathtaking rock formations. Then, we’ll land nearby for a ground tour along the West Rim of the canyon. Presidents Benjamin Harrison, Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson helped protect the area for future generations to enjoy.
